Chalkfest

The Sparx Gallery Hop and CMA chalkfest are both events I spend all year looking forward to. I always take my nephew and co-conspirator Xavier and am amazed by the local artists. I can't help, but notice how few people seem to take advantage of opportunities that showcase the art and talent in the area and how much people I know struggle to get by doing art and how that played into my decision not to go to art school and just evolve on my own to stay here. People say since Cleveland is an industrial town we can't really appreciate art, because we are used to judging things on the basis of if they have a function or not. I guess for the most part this is true, but I feel like its changing because of the way artists have helped redeveloped areas like Tremont and Ohio City. There is Urban Growth and Economic Development that can be directly attributed to artists bitches!
